Upstairs Bath
The upstairs bath has had the most dramatic transformation thus far. This bathroom will be Kinsley’s bath in the future so I kept that in mind while designing. Even though it is a kid’s bathroom I did not want the design to be childish or quickly outgrown. We kept it sleek and modern with lots of fun elements.
This will be the place she starts and ends each day so I wanted it to be cheerful and welcoming. The addition of wallpaper was just the ticket! I love using wallpaper in bathrooms, since they are an enclosed space they are ideal for being a little more bold in design choices. Wallpaper has seen a resurgence in the design world recently, although I’d argue it never really went away. There are so many beautiful wallpaper options out there, some are even removable! I’m not going to sugarcoat it: installing wallpaper can be a daunting task. So even though it cost more, I hired a professional to install mine.
Another major change was the flooring. We installed water resistant laminate. It is extremely durable and has a wood look that really warms the space.
We wanted to put in a larger vanity with more counter space, we chose this vanity by Glacier Bay. We decided to change all of the fixtures to matte black including the vanity knobs, sink and tub/shower faucets. It goes great with the black and white wallpaper and instantly modernizes the room.
The original linen closet was way too deep and unfinished. We reworked it to give it a more custom look and make the shelves more useable.
We also added a sliding barn door to save space in the small hallway. Keeping with the aesthetic we choose one with black hardware and I painted it the same white as the trim which was Simply White by Benjamin Moore.
We are just delighted with how it turned out!
