Kinsley’s Room
Her room when we moved in:
Can you guess what I did first? Paint of course! For Kinsley’s room I chose a barely pink color called Pink Bliss by Benjamin Moore.
We also replaced the windows which increased the amount of natural light in the room. Natural light is always your friend!
As you can see in the before picture, there was a built in desk under one of the windows. We went ahead and removed that/patched to make a cute reading nook. In kid’s rooms, it’s important to put things on their level, this bookshelf is a good example of that. Imagine that you’re three feet tall when designing so that you see the room through their eyes.
This is the same dresser that I used as a girl. I simply painted it white and replaced the knobs with these from Rejuvenation.
The wood floors still need to be refinished but that is a project for the future. I ordered the rug online and was so happy how it turned out. It adds a cozy and interesting element that is ideal for a kids room. You can view it here.
One question I get asked a lot is “how do I make it all match?” Simple answer, you don’t! Allow the room to have a creative flair to ignite your child’s imagination. I wanted Kinsley’s room to be a happy little place so I filled it with color and art. The idea was to make the room young, fun, and cozy. I think it’s the perfect blend of style and playfulness.
